Position Summary
The Associate Director of Corporate Giving is a senior leadership position within CORAL’s Development & Marketing team, responsible for building and growing mutually beneficial partnerships with companies that share our commitment to ocean and coral reef conservation. This highly visible role will serve as the strategic lead for all corporate partnerships, representing CORAL’s mission to industry leaders and ensuring strong alignment between our corporate engagement and organizational growth goals. CORAL is scaling its global impact this decade to tackle urgent threats to reef ecosystems and the coastal communities that depend on them. Corporate support plays a critical role in that vision.
The Associate Director of Corporate Giving is a strategic, relationship-driven fundraiser who will identify, cultivate, and steward a portfolio of corporate partners. This role will be responsible for securing both unrestricted and program-specific funding, as well as in-kind and cause-marketing support. The ideal candidate will bring a collaborative approach to partnership development, working closely with program, marketing, and leadership staff to align corporate engagement opportunities with CORAL’s mission and values.This senior leadership role serves as CORAL’s primary corporate representative—negotiating partnership terms, advising the executive team on corporate strategy, and representing the organization at high-level meetings and events. A front-facing, revenue-generating position, it is ideal for a seasoned fundraiser or business development professional with a passion for conservation and a talent for crafting mission-aligned partnerships. The Associate Director will also shape and lead a multi-year strategy to grow corporate revenue, overseeing recognition programs, sponsor fulfillment, and the development of tailored proposals and materials.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Generating Revenue through Strategic Partnerships (75%)
- Lead and expand CORAL’s corporate giving program by identifying, cultivating, and stewarding a growing network of mission-aligned partners through a regular cadence of communication via email and virtual meetings. Drive toward doubling annual corporate revenue—from $400,000 to $800,000+—within two years through a strategic mix of renewals, upsells, and new relationships.
- Build and manage a high-performing corporate fundraising pipeline of at least 35 prospective partners. Secure new and expanded partnerships with a strong focus on multi-year commitments, especially from industries aligned with CORAL’s mission such as travel, cruiseline, sunscreen, diving, ocean technology, and sustainability.
- Responsible for delivering best-in-class stewardship experiences to corporate donors, ensuring alignment with their values and branding goals. Meet or exceed a 70%+ renewal rate by providing meaningful updates, ensuring partnership deliverables are met, and maintaining consistent, personalized communication.
- Design and lead tailored engagement pathways for each corporate partner, including visibility in cause-marketing campaigns, event sponsorships, employee engagement programs, and in-kind giving. Create compelling partnership materials, proposals, and decks in collaboration with Communications.
- Integrate corporate fundraising opportunities—both for new prospects and existing partners—into the Development & Marketing Team’s 3–4 annual fundraising campaigns, mission-aligned awareness days, and key events. This includes identifying and executing a mix of lower-effort, one-time opportunities for prospective partners and more strategic, high-impact opportunities for formal corporate partners.
Strategy Development & Cross-Team Collaboration (15%)
- Lead the design and implementation of a bold, multi-year vision to position CORAL as a top-tier partner for corporate social responsibility initiatives globally.
- Advise senior leadership on opportunities and risks related to corporate funding.
- Serve as the senior-most strategist for corporate giving, setting the direction for lead generation, pipeline development, and multi-sector partnerships
- Work closely with the Communications, Programs, and Directors teams to co-create partnership proposals that reflect CORAL’s scientific and community-based impact. Support integrated donor campaigns and initiatives with corporate visibility opportunities with cause-marketing appeals.
- Represent CORAL’s corporate giving approach internally and externally. Stay abreast of corporate social responsibility trends and identify emerging opportunities to position CORAL as a leading conservation partner for values-driven businesses.
Systems & Evaluation (10%)
- Manage and continuously update corporate interactions, progress, and opportunities within Salesforce CRM. Establish and report on KPIs to evaluate performance and inform strategy, including revenue forecasting and benchmarking.
- Collaborate with the Programs team to translate technical outcomes into digestible, branded impact reports for partners. Develop stewardship content that reinforces the corporate partner’s role in supporting reef resilience and ocean health.
- Standardize and improve internal systems to support scalable growth in the corporate giving program. Maintain clear documentation of partnership deliverables and timelines, and explore tools or platforms that streamline operations.
Required Qualifications
- Deep commitment to CORAL’s mission and to advancing environmental conservation through strategic partnerships
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in corporate fundraising, business development, or partnerships, with demonstrated leadership experience and a proven record of prospecting, cultivating, and closing revenue-generating relationships
- Demonstrated success securing five-figure (and ideally six-figure) gifts or sponsorships from corporate partners
- Strong strategic thinking and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-value opportunities at various stages of the pipeline
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to quickly absorb, translate, and communicate CORAL’s science- and community-based programs into compelling, partnership-ready narratives
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills; able to inspire trust and enthusiasm among corporate representatives, even in a remote setting
- Effective cross-functional communicator with the ability to coordinate and align with internal teams across departments
- Highly detail-oriented—comfortable with juggling deadlines, tracking deliverables, and maintaining accurate partnership records
- Strong writing skills, particularly in persuasive fundraising and partnership communications (experience with pitch decks, sponsorship packets, or cause-marketing copy is a plus)
- Positive, curious, and collaborative mindset; team player who brings humor, humility, and a solution-oriented approach
- Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred), and familiarity with corporate research and prospecting tools (e.g., iWave, LinkedIn Sales Navigator)
- Analytical thinker with the ability to use data and KPIs to guide strategy and improve performance
- Discretion in handling confidential or sensitive corporate and donor information
Compensation and Work Schedule
This is a full-time exempt position compensated within a salary range of $100,000 – $120,000 annually. CORAL offers a compensation package including medical benefits, 401k matching, generous paid time off packaging, 12 holidays, Employee Assistance Program, and more. Additionally, we offer a mileage reimbursement program for personal vehicle use.
We offer a flexible working schedule where the successful candidate can set their own working hours as long as they are able to attend necessary meetings.
